Just checking in!!

This is just a short post to check in and say hello! I have somehow managed to get back into my usual busy routine but i am trying to change that and work out a schedule that includes finding a peaceful moment to spend some quality time with myself...i will let you know how that goes...

So far for the week i have been working on assignments for school, the usual load from work and i had a few emergency dentist visits in between (urgghh)  but through it all i actually found some peaceful moments  to spend some time with the sewing machine, catch up on some good movies and today i baked a cake!! hmmm maybe the new schedule is working out. My goal is to find those peaceful moments more often, it is truly worth the while.

Also, while i am eating breakfast i usually read my thought for the day and i also have a little book named "Thank Heaven for Coffee and other little pleasures". It is full of adorable quotes for each day, i found this one interesting and i wanted to share it with you:

"Seek the wisdom of the ages, but look at the world through the eyes of a child."
                                                                                                       -Ron Wild

That was my thought for today and maybe after you read it, it may be your thought for tomorrow :)

For my out fit piece, it is a tie-dye maxi dress i made, I saw this fabric and fell in love with it but at the time i did not know what i would make with it, by the way, i do that alot, i buy fabric by the rolls and the design  hits me months later, it has become a habit. But this fabric had such a relaxed look and a soft feel, then i figured  this would make the perfect maxi:

My Suggestion to you is....

HAVE A NATURE DAY!!!

A few weeks ago i decided to take my mum to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables and it was the most relaxing and inspirational day i had in a while therefore i must share a bit of it with you. For any of you that are in the Miami area, do visit this garden you  definitely will not regret it.

To give you  a bit more information, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an 83-acre botanic garden located in Coral Gables, Florida.  It has extensive collections of rare tropical plants including palms, cycads, flowering trees and vines and rare vegetables, fruits and even marine life can be found at this natural paradise.

This garden also reminded me of the circle of life, while snapping photos of the butterflies it made me recall its
metamorphosis, its cocoon stage and it reminded me of our own growth, our own metamorphosis
throughout life.

It amazes me how much we can learn from nature and it also amazes me how we can
also take it for granted, for more information about this garden, feel free to visit http://fairchildgarden.org

For my outfit for the day, i felt like wearing a soft, delicate dress so i decided to wear one of my designs; also, I am in the process of making a maxi dress collection which you all shall be seeing throughout my future blog posts so stay tuned :)

What is your magazine look???

So it is the September, which is quite an eventful month for me not only because it is my birthday month :) (virgos are the best!!) but its the month where most of the fashion magazines have in a bit of extra for the new fall fashion trends which leaves me with a cup of tea in hand absorbing these magazines on a daily basis. This moment is pure bliss for me:
But  my best moment is when   i study these magazines and  come across an outfit post to realize that i have something quite similar in my closet catching dust, it then makes me think what would be my twist to this look? or what would i add? This is always fun for me so i decided to share it with you.
While reading my Marie Claire September issue i came across this look:
Model: Frankie Rayder; Bodysuit: Michael Kors; Skirt: Michael Kors; Clutch: Michael Kors
Image: Marie Claire September 2011

I saw this and it looked quite familiar, after some closet digging, here is my look:
Bodysuit: Material Girl; Skirt: Vintage; Scarf: Vintage

I would love to see your twist on a magazine look.

Till Next time

More of NY and a bit of LadyJJewels!!!

Of course i must share with you more of the inspiration I ran into in NY...

(feel free to guess my favorite painting ;)

We then ran into some fabulous designs from Lady J:

do you see us?:)

Lady J with her fabulous designs!
What immediately caught my eyes  were Lady J's "See True" spectacles meaning "I see you, I respect you, I see true". What a statement and what a piece, these spectacles are truly one of a kind as are all of her spectacular designs. Do check out more of Lady J's pieces at http://www.etsy.com/people/ladyjjewels, I highly recommend it!!!
